Tēnā Koutou Katoa

I have been the Principal of Tauhara Primary School since 2015 and feel very privileged to be able to lead our Taupō Kāhui Ako for the next couple of years.  I want to take this opportunity to thank Carmel Hoetawa and Peter Moyle for their work over the last several years.  Carmel, for her work with the formation of our Kāhui Ako, and Peter for his leadership and support with building leadership capability, student achievement in literacy and cultural sustainability for our English medium schools within Tūwharetoa.  Further, I acknowledge the work of Miriama Prentice and Kristy Northcroft who began the Tūwharetoa Cultural Knowledge Professional Learning with schools during 2020 and will continue throughout 2021.  I look forward to working with the Governance Team as we collaborate to enact our strategic vision.

I look forward to leading our Kāhui Ako and to continuing our important work in collaboration with Tūwharetoa, Ministry of Education, our Early Childhood Centres and our local Primary, Intermediate and Secondary schools.  We have within our Kāhui Ako, a breadth and depth of expertise and knowledge.  I believe that we are stronger together in collaboration and am reminded of the whakatauki:

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, Engari he toa takitini

My successes are not mine alone, they are ours – the greatest

Successes we will have are from working together

Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēna koutou katoa
